More than $7,000 stolen from local business

A man accused of stealing more than $7,000 from his employer in less than a month was arrested Tuesday by Greeley police on 12 counts of theft.

He is being held in the Weld County Jail on $10,000 bond.

Kipling Wycliffe Wise, 26, worked for a J & D’s Tire Factory last fall and stayed for about a month, according to Greeley police spokesman Sgt. Joe Tymkowych.

“We believe he accessed the bank account number of the business where he worked,” Tymkowych said, “and started paying his own bills from the company account.” The total missing from the account was $7,827, Tymkowych said.

But Wise only worked for the business a month before he was fired for other problems. He was living in the Denver area when a warrant was issued in December, charging him with numerous thefts.

Tymkowych said Wise may have worked for other businesses in this area, and if anyone knows if other suspected thefts, they should call fraud specialist Christy Hardwick the police department, (970) 350-9674.
