Kathryn Bender

Kathryn Bender, 99, of Fort Collins, went to be with the Lord on May 5 in Fort Collins.

Kathryn was born Aug. 19, 1908 in Merkel, Russia to Mary E. (Reichert) and Jacob Steeley. The family moved to Colorado, where Kathryn resided her whole life. She was united in marriage to Alexander Niesent in 1925 in Loveland. She had the most important job of all, taking care of her family. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, loved to play the accordion and sing in the Wild Cats singing group. Kathryn also enjoyed volunteering at the Senior Center.

Kathryn is survived by her son Melvin “Hap” (Lillian) Niesent of Windsor; and her daughter Doris Meisinger of Loveland; 43 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alex, one son Willard Niesent and daughter Loretta Kowolik.
