Jean Bergquist of Fort Collins died at McKee Hospice Center on May 6 at the age of 92. She was a delightfully independent woman who was a dearly loved friend, a beloved teacher, a deeply spiritual woman and a wonderful mother.
She was born to Joseph H. Peters and Emeline A. Kray on May 7, 1916 in Cold Spring, Minn. A homemaker until her husband died in 1963, she then became a schoolteacher. Jean was a member of St. Joseph Parish and auxiliary member of the Altar and Rosary Society Legion of Mary. She volunteered with SHARE and served as an Eucharistic minister to several local rest homes and hospitals. Her many groups and activities included swimming in the Senior Olympics, china painting, playing cards in several bridge and pinochle groups, and a teachers' lunch group.
She is survived by her six children, Joan, Joe, Jim and wife Viki, Jane and partner Susan, Wilbur and wife Buffy, Judith and husband James, and adopted daughter Linda and husband Mike; her grandchildren Chris and wife Pam, Erin, Mathew, Rebecca and husband Chris, Janna, Adam and wife Julie, Sharon, and Kyle; two great-grandchildren Cameron and Katarina; two brothers Joe and John and one sister Mary.
