Delmar “Del” Houston, 70 of Akron, formerly of Fort Collins died May 4 at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan.
Delmar Gene Houston was born April 11, 1938 in Wellington to John and Lola Houston. He lived most of his life in Fort Collins, but also lived many years in Las Vegas, Nev. Since 1998, he has lived in Akron.
Del was a long-time business owner in Northern Colorado called Unique Painting and Decorating. He hired general contractors and others throughout the region and was well respected for his expertise. He also worked as a subcontractor for many years for Colorado Partitions and Drywall.
He is survived by his first ex-wife, Bettie Harras of Akron; his second ex-wife, Joan Cruse of Fort Collins; three children, Marilyn Brown of Fort Collins; Tony Houston of Fort Collins and Rod Houston of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren; two brothers, John Houston of Fort Collins and Jim Houston of California; and his sister, Pansy Nuckalls of Rio Vista, Calif.
